Nice to meet you!
Small Biz, Big Chat was founded by Rhiannon and Emmelie in 2022, and as our events grew, Sarah joined our team. We wanted to create a supportive and welcoming community for female entrepreneurs - the kind of events that were missing from the Glasgow ‘networking’ scene.
We’ve all been to those traditional networking events: the awkward, uncomfortable, salesy events where you listen to one scripted elevator pitch after another. Usually with a corporate guest speaker who just doesn’t get it. Small Biz Community is something different. We run monthly meet ups for friendly female founders which are all about learning, sharing, good coffee and great chat. Our venues are small, indie businesses too.
Our community is diverse and we like it that way: many of us identify as neurodivergent, queer, immigrants, disabled and/or chronic illness warriors and we are as open-minded and friendly a group as you’d find anywhere. Most of us are juggling other roles along with running our businesses and we really do get it. If you’re looking for people you can relate to - you’ve found us!

Emmelie
Hey! I’m Emmelie (pronounced Emily). Mama to my two mini’s and wife to equal weirdo Steve. I absolutely love design. I studied Interior Design and have been illustrating since I could hold a pencil. If I’m not running my design business- or after my kids- you can find me doing something creative, reading a good book or gaming.
It is my mission to help female business owners grow their business, take up more space and show off how amazing they are through their visual branding! So they can- in their turn- empower, inspire and support more women in doing their incredible thing! One of the reasons why we started (and I love) the Small Biz Community so much.
Emmelie runs Emmelie Coulson Design.
Hello!
Hi, I'm Rhiannon: branding specialist, professional photographer, podcast host and proud female founder. I'm also a mum (to two girls, one rescue dog & a cat), a wife (to one Scottish guy), an avid adventurer and a total night owl.
I have always been drawn to storytelling- from my early days studying theatre and film, to obtaining my journalism degree to working in Communications to falling in love with photography- and I have somehow found a way to pull all of this knowledge, experience and passion into the career of my dreams.
I’m big into supporting female entrepreneurs because I want my daughters live in a world where they are surrounded by inspiring women who are living their dream life. Any small part I can play in that is how I want to spend my time on this planet.
Rhiannon runs Small Fish Brand Co. and Rhiannon Neale Photography.
Rhiannon
Hey!
Sarah
Hiya, I’m Sarah.
After nearly a decade of marketing and communications in the charity sector I returned to my true love: flowers. I first started faffing with flowers when I was fourteen. I went to a local florist for work experience and ended up working there until I was 21. Then I got a ‘proper’ job.
During the pandemic I fell out of love with my career and started dreaming of flowers again. I’ve spent the last three years building my business. I’m so lucky to have gained loads of knowledge with my old career that has been beneficial to running Rook Botanics. I love sharing this knowledge with people who are getting started with their small biz.
Meeting Rhiannon and Emmelie has been a highlight of self employed life. Being able to ask for advice, without any judgement, has been the biggest help. Oh, and I have a greyhound who I’m obsessed with.
Sarah runs Rook Botanics.
Hiya!
