Meet the Team: Rhiannon
Rhiannon (along with Emmelie) started the Small Biz Big Chat events back in 2022. Get to know her a little better…
Name: Rhiannon Louden
Your small business: Small Fish Brand Co & Rhiannon Neale Photography
Why is networking important? It gives you a sense of community! This can be such a lonely gig, and having other like minded, relatable people around you who actually get what you’re going through is invaluable. I get so much inspiration, encouragement and motivation from networking and it’s helped me connect with and build a strong network of other small business owners: who I can collaborate with, refer clients to/get referrals from, and many of whom have become my closest friends.
Your fav thing about running a small biz? Carving my own path and making my own rules! I’ve always been rebellious, and I quickly learned a 9-5 office job wasn’t for me. I get to decide who I want to work with, what kind of projects I want to take on and what direction my businesses head in. I can create a schedule that suits me and the lifestyle I want, and if I work extra hard I reap the benefits. It also fits within my own values and contributes to the kind of world I want to live in: a world where everyone can build a career doing what they love, where small businesses thrive and give back to their communities.
Your least fav thing about running a small biz? Two things for me:
1. Working solo a lot of the time, though networking, coworking and building my own network and community certainly helps!
2. Being so connected to my work. I love that I’ve found a way to build a career I’m so passionate about, but I find it really difficult not to take things personally and to turn off my brain in my downtime!
Favourite book: Right now? Don’t Forget to Scream: Unspoken Truths About Motherhood // Of all time? This is too hard to choose! I love reading memoirs, in particular anything to do with motherhood, entrepreneurship, mental health and grief. I also love reading horror.
Favourite podcast: I love the Mel Robbins podcast! I dip in and out of podcasts depending on my mood, but anything to do with entrepreneurship, motherhood and mental health as well.
Your goal for the year: To put myself out there more by speaking at events, being on other podcasts, getting some of my writing published. I’m also aiming to finish my book this year, as well as staying consistent with my podcast and Substack.
The best piece of business advice you’ve heard? Just Keep Going. On the days where nothing is going right, or it seems like no one is getting your message, or you don’t know what to do next just keep moving forward, trying different things, putting yourself out there.
Where can we find you?
